FIFA U-20 World Championship
20 October 2009

The victorious FIFA U-20 world champions, the Black Satellites of Ghana, on Monday presented the trophy they won in Cairo last Friday to President John Evans Atta Mills after they had gone on a float through the principal streets of the Ghanaian capital, Accra.
Tens of thousands of football fans and residents of Accra lined the streets as the convoy of vehicles carrying the players and officials crawled along amidst the heaping of praises on them.
Captain Andre Dede Ayew and strikers Dominic Adiyiah and Ransford Osei held the World Youth trophy for the crowd to view.
The players and officials had earlier in the day held a press conference at which they were presented to journalists.
They ended up at the seaside Independence Square late in the evening where a huge musical show is is being held.
The Satellites beat Brazil 4-3 on penalties at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt after a nail biting final to lift World Cup, the first by an African country.
The Ghana Football Association said a regional tour was being planned for the team.
President Mills praised the team for its achievements and promised a "lasting reward at an appropriate time".
He said the reward due them should reflect the enormity of their success, adding that an "attractive package" would be announced after thorough consultations with stakeholders.
Apart from winning the trophy, striker Adiyiah was the voted best player and goal king which came with a golden ball and a golden boot trophies respectively.
The President said the Satellites "victory was an indication that Africa was ready to unite, given the huge support and commendation from African countries".
He singled out Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak for his open support to the Satellites which, he said, encouraged the team to victory.
